What 3 hours alone in the studio can do for me...

Yesterday I spent three hours alone in the studio with lots of motivation, a list of moves I saw in videos and a tango song inspiring movement... And here is the outcome! Four moves on my list failed because I am not flexible enough to oversplit (yet) and one move failed because it used the incorrect hand for my grip and the rest of the move wasn't worth switching sides to compensate. But I am proud to have accomplished what I did.
Here is just a simple knee hang, but until yesterday I haven't actually tried hanging behind my knee in this particular pose.
Here is a beautiful split move I have seen other people do. I really wish I had the flexibility required to bend that bottom leg and reach it with my arm. That really creates a beautiful image. But I can do the split quite nicely and managed to create a nice line... and can come out of it very nicely thanks to a video from Deb Riley's UK studio launch!

Here is a video of me going from a descending angel pose to a superman. It's a pretty cool transition I haven't tried before. It's actually pretty comfortable.

Here is a video of me going from a descending angel to a twisted grip. It definitely is not smooth yet. The main problem in this video is that I forgot to put my hand the right way and had to switch it. And I don't have the distance between my body and the pole yet, so it doesn't look as dramatic yet... I love work's in progress!

Hell yea! Nadia and I watched Jenyne's video and have sunburn-type burns on our arms from this move! But we made it happen... Sloppy but not bad for a first try!

**I know I am not 100% straight yet... It's hard to hit that spot when you can't see yourself in the mirror and it's only the 3rd time I've done it, so no muscle awareness yet!**

**Bat to the twisted grip -- yippee! I just did this for the first time last night... This video is after Swan spotted me about five times and I finally tried it on my own! It definitely still needs work with smoothing out the transition, but I am still very proud of it!**

**The first spin is one I learned from Badazz a long time ago, but I converted it into a straddle (I forget what he did with his legs, but it was more of a dive spin than mine). Then I realized that I could take it into a spinning superman because the spin is the same position I do into my superman anway. I am sure someone in the pole universe has done it before, but I am still happy that I was being innovative! It will have more momentum when I am not so tired!

The VertiGirls have a monthly home beginning January 21, 2010. We will be performing at Codega Nights at the King King in Hollywood. Codega Nights will take place every 3rd Thursday of the month. Here it is... The performance I have been waiting to do for over a year now! I am so happy that the pasties stayed on and I didn't mess up my handspring! And Ben made the entire performance even more powerful with his amazing character work and partnering skills. Sorry for the poor quality. As soon as I have a better video I will post it!

The Toledo Show at Harvelles

I am really excited to announce that soon I will be performing with Toledo Diamond at Harvelles in Santa Monica. I auditioned for his show last night and he loved my hoop performance. Sometime this week I will have some set performance dates! The show consists of Toledo Diamond, his jazz/funk band and his Dames, the cabaret dancers. You can check out his show at Harvelles

A few months ago I was asked to perform at this year's Halloween Lucha VaVoom (I have been trying to get into Lucha for almost a year). Today I went on the website and was incredibly excited to see my name on the back of the flyer!

Here it is... My Alice In Wonderland-themed hoop show that opened for the one and only FELIX CANE, Miss Pole World! The entire day was amazing between taking a workshop with her, performing on the same stage as her and watching her live performance. What an inspiration she is!

I was asked to perform aerial hoop at the upcoming Pole Dance Championship. Yesterday the competition's producer confirmed Miss Pole World, Felix Cane, as another feature performer for the evening. I will be opening the stage for Felix Cane! I am honored and excited... And ready to choreograph something amazing! Bound Lotus rocks!

It is really cool to have such varied talent between Ben and myself. He is a break dancer and self-trained acrobat. I am a pole dancer. We both have an aerial background. When we combine all these skills we are able to invent some really great moves that we haven't seen other people doing. Of course when I say invent I don't mean we are the only people out there doing these specific moves. There's probably someone in the universe who has already done it... But we have some pretty innovative partner moves and it's really exciting for me!

Yesterday we put together a series that includes a reverse jacknife on Ben. I love "human pole!" I will try to get some pictures up soon!
